It has again been quite a while since more than a little
work has been done on the Castle. However, I have finally made the time to upload art and
short stories that had once been on the site and removed due to limited space when it was a
free-for-me site with annoying pop-up ads. Also, gradually, I am adding new files so
that the Castle may continue to grow. And unless you have been using the old, original
GeoCities URL rather than the domain name, www.gmkelly.com, you probably won't even notice that
the Castle's hosting has, technically, changed. Quite a while back Yahoo! acquired GeoCities and
now all GeoCities sites are going to be closed so the Castle had to be transferred. I was
somewhat concerned, but Yahoo made the process very simple. For perhaps only a day gmkelly.com
led to an Under Construction page, and now everything is back to normal, actually better than
normal. Of course the site that was once free now costs a bit to keep on the Net, but it's a
small price to pay for the removal of pop-up ads and more bandwidth.
It is also worth noting here that lo these several years I have been finding it difficult to make time to add new files to the Castle due to the fact that unlike so many wannabe cult leaders I don't accept money for usless and inaccurate courses in magick, sham initiations and fake degrees and grades, but instead deal with a time-consuming, life-sucking job like most of you. By the end of the day many of us are so drained we don't sleep at night; we go home and collapse from exhaustion. I am currently working with the chronically unemployed, have been for nearly a decade now, and that often means working with a room full of unconscious psychic vampires. So, If you have sent me a letter or e-mailed me and I still haven't yet responded...you know why. Needless to say my writing career, such as it is, is floundering, having next to no quality time to write. Life is so much easier for the unethical con-artists in the occult and religious communities. Ah, the burdens of being an honest, ethical man. Alas.
Another reason new uploads have taken so long is that I was hoping to add new files along with the ones being returned, reviews mostly--and as you've probably noticed, reviews are more than reviews on this site. However, again, I've had problems finding or making quality time to write. So for now please enjoy the returned material which you may have missed when it was first on the Castle as well as a few belated obituary memorials and the "new" and perhaps final Solomon King story, Mam'bo. And please keep in mind that I am now a much better writer today than I was then. Well, at least I think so!
I will try to write and post new files to the Castle of the Silver Star soon and more frequently. And if you missed the previous Personal Note (although you have had plenty of time to read it!) you may click on the link below.
Life has been very complicated for me of late, my time consumed by my bread-and-butter job and all manner of troubles and emergencies including the flooding of my basement by an idiot, causing me to lose many unpublished manuscripts (not a major loss according to some), diaries and letters to and from some very interesting people, all of which I intended to save to digital form. More recently winter has taken it's toll upon my home. I am writing this now in a room in which everything is covered with plastic for protection against water almost pouring through the window and ceiling, myself and my desktop at this moment in a plastic tent. I feel like one of the last survivors of an apocalyptic nuclear winter. However, as soon as possible I will add new files to the Castle and continue to do so for many years yet to come. I should have time. I've decided not to die. I simply don't have time for nonsense like that. Too much yet to do.
